Slowly recovering from a cold and trying to enjoy our weekend here in Talladega, AL at the Lake Hypatia event. So far it has been a wonderful event with so many like minded people how could it not be. I hope to post more after this event as we have plans for more to come :)

A Wet and Rainy day yet again

Well after a long weekend of packing, driving, unpacking, sleeping, unpacking and running around, I can finally say "phew, thats over".

Now the job search begins yet again and having family up here helps alot for prospects but doesn't guarantee anything really. So as I leech the wifi from local restaurant again until ours gets hooked up, searching the few local sources of job listings, even borrow a paper from another customer briefly.

I have that slight anxiety about not having a job, I've been working since I was 14 and have had only a few days off between jobs. I love how when i filed for unemployment and you give the reason for leaving as a family responsibility, this was an option on their own page mind you. They sent me a letter stating that my leaving for "personal reasons" did not qualify me for any benefits, WTH!!!! Now I have to appeal it and go through the process of actually talking to someone, hopefully a real person with a heart that will understand my situation, geez

Currently i'm at day 28 without a job, but by my own choice to stay home and care for a loved one. I wouldn't trade this time for anything and would do it all over again a thousand times. You just have to learn to cherish every minute you have with your love ones, cause when they are gone memories are all you have and never enough.

A Day Off??? What Is That??

Another week has passed and finally my 2 days off, but they are never really 2 days off. It never happens, the phone always rings and at any possible hour of the day. You would think after being there longer than a year the rest of the employees at my work could survive 48 hours at least without having to call me for some trivial common sense reason.

I mean seriously, seven months ago I had a security guard call me at 11:30pm , " Um... the trash in the clubroom is full, um... what should i do??" This is no joke and it infuriates me that people are this stupid on simple daily task and still have a job. I have routinely gotten at least 3 phone calls for every day that I supposedly had off.

The insanity of all this is that I do not see any reason for it to stop, as I am typing this I get yet another call " The Remotes to the theater are not turning anything on, can you come reset the system?" Knowing how they love to leave the $500 touch screen remote just laying around and not on it's charging station, I ask what the battery meter was reading on the screen. " um.. well the screen on the remote won't light up, so i don't know" to which I reply, the battery is dead and needs to put on the charging station for at least 2 hours. After which I walk them through on how to manually turn everything on and allow the guest to whatch their movie. Sadly I know in a few hours they will most likely call me about how to turn the system off, even after I told them that the remote would be charged by then and capable of shutting it all down.

Well I needed to rant for a few minutes and get that out. Thank you for stopping by and lending me a few minutes of you time.
